Eight competitors played in two blocks of four. The winners of each block played off in the final. The other competitors played their counterparts in the other block for the minor placings. The event was managed by Peter McDermott.
Block A:
Derek Watts beat Dennis Scarr +24, Dave Turner +14 and Charles Waterfield +17
Charles Waterfield beat Dave Turner +18 and Dennis Scarr +23
Dave Turner beat Dennis Scarr +14

Block B:
Phil Errington beat Derek Old 24-20T and Phill Scarr +13
Phill Scarr beat Derek Old 20-19T and Roger Staples 20-9T
Roger Staples beat Phil Errington 19-16T and Derek Old +17
Three players each had two wins. Phil Errington came first on total hoop points. Although Roger (54) ran one more hoop than Phill S (53), Phill had beaten Roger and so was placed second.

As four rounds had to be played in the day, time-limits were 2¼ hrs per game. Play started at 0930 and finished at 1835 and of the 16 matches only 6 went to time; this is credit to the players, as the incessant wind was often near gale force. Derek Watts’ handicap reduced from 2½ to 2 as an additional reward!
